Mark Angel

Mark Angel is a Nigerian comedian, scriptwriter, and YouTuber, born on May 27, 1991. He’s the mastermind behind Mark Angel Comedy — one of Africa’s most popular YouTube series known for its hilarious, family-friendly skits.
His journey began in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, though his roots trace back to Imo State. Mark originally studied medicine at Obafemi Awolowo University but dropped out due to personal reasons. Later, he studied cinematography in India and returned to Nigeria to pursue filmmaking.
In 2013, Mark launched his production outfit, Mechanic Pictures, and began creating skits on YouTube. His big break came when he featured children from his family — especially Emmanuella Samuel, his cousin, and Aunty Success, her cousin. These young stars became internet sensations, with Emmanuella earning awards both in Nigeria and abroad.
One of their most famous skits, Oga Landlord, helped catapult the channel into stardom. In 2017, Mark Angel Comedy became the first Nigerian YouTube channel to hit one million subscribers — a massive milestone for Afrocomedy.
Mark works alongside a tight-knit team of recurring actors like Mr. Azu, Baze10, Mimi, and Kingsley Brown — including his wife, who often features in the skits.
He calls his approach “freestyle comedy” — filmed in the streets and homes of Port Harcourt, with a raw and natural feel. His style connects with everyday Nigerians, offering relatable humor and real-life scenarios.
In 2021, Mark Angel became a brand ambassador for 1xBet and today boasts a massive following across platforms — including over 21 million followers on Facebook and more than 8 million subscribers on YouTube.
From a small neighborhood in Port Harcourt to global screens, Mark Angel’s story proves that with passion, creativity, and a smartphone, comedy can become a powerful global language.
